Sink Depth by Market: 220 mm Standard and OEM Options

Quick answer

Our kitchen sink lines are built to a 220 mm bowl depth as standard — the depth most North American buyers expect. Japanese-style models in the 7848 series run 230 mm, and our round art basins sit at 100–130 mm. Depth is one of the easiest specs to adjust in an OEM project, but it changes cabinet clearances, splash behaviour and usable capacity, so it should be decided deliberately — not left to the factory default.

Typical bowl depths by market

These ranges reflect what importers and cabinet makers commonly spec in each region. They are buying conventions, not standards — but ordering outside them is a decision worth making on purpose.

Market / use case Common bowl depth Why
North America (kitchen) 220–250 mm (9–10 in) Large pots, high-arc faucets, deep farmhouse look
Europe (kitchen) 180–200 mm Compact base cabinets, undermount with shallow counters
Compact APAC apartments 160–180 mm Shallow cabinets, 600 mm counters with drainer zones
Workstation sinks 200–220 mm Ledge costs interior depth; boards must clear the rim
Utility / art basins 100–130 mm Hand-wash and bathroom use, not pot washing

What depth actually changes

1. Waste clearance under the bowl

Depth is only half of the vertical budget. Add the trap and waste fitting below the bowl: a 220 mm bowl plus trap needs roughly 350–400 mm of clear cabinet height. Specifying a deeper bowl into a 580–600 mm cabinet is the most common retrofit problem we see, and it is fixed on paper, not on site.

2. Splash with deep bowls

A deep bowl under a low faucet splashes back; a shallow bowl under a high-arc tap sprays forward. If the buyer has already chosen the tap, match the depth to it.

3. Workstation ledges eat interior depth

A ledge sink and a plain single bowl with the same outer size do not have the same usable floor or depth. Compare bowl dimensions, not overall length — this is the single most common specification mistake in workstation orders.

Our depth figures, verified

Every model on this site carries its real dimensions in the sink dimension table, and the specification guide explains gauge, radius and finish. Kitchen lines: 220 mm standard. Japanese 7848 series: 230 mm. Art basins: 100–130 mm. If a market needs 250 mm, that is an OEM conversation — depth changes the blank size, tooling and sometimes the gauge, and it is quoted properly instead of guessed.
